The Delft Ceramics Days will take place over the weekend of 27 and 28 June.
De Pels will feature the ceramic installation ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ by ceramicist Ellen Rijsdorp.
She created this installation in Jingdezhen, China—the porcelain capital of the world. There, she researched how different types of clay react to one another. The result is a series of flat dishes that appear to be strung together like a chain. Subtle nuances in colour give the piece a calm, tranquil quality. The 17-metre-long original grate in De Pels is perfectly suited to presenting this work in a serene setting.
